Water softening system
The dishwasher is equipped with a water softening system that reduces the hardness of the inlet water. To find
out the hardness level of tap water, contact your water company or use a test strip (if available).
The procedure to set the water hardness
Based on the water hardness test, set the softener according to the hardness of the tap water as follows.
•
Set the program selector/switch (4) in the position 1.
•
Press and hold the Start/Pause button (3).
•
Turn the program selector / switch (4) to position 2 by turning it one step clockwise.
•
Keep the Start/Pause button (3) pressed until all indicators start flashing. After that the hardness indicator
appears, which shows a predefined state (see chart on previous page).
•
Now you can repeatedly press the Start/Pause button (3) to change the settings according to the water
hardness setting table.
•
Once you set your desired hardness, switch off the appliance by turning the program selector /off switch
(4) to position 1. The last selected water hardness setting will be saved.
Warning:
If you are moving, after moving, set the water hardness again according to the water quality in the
new home. This is necessary for optimal dish washing.
Using detergent
Only use detergents intended for use in domestic dishwashers. Store detergents in a cool, dry place out of the
reach of children.
For best results, add a suitable cleaner to the selected program. The amount of detergent required depends on
the cycle, the amount of dishes and the level of soiling.
Do not add more detergent to the detergent dispenser than necessary; otherwise, whitish streaks or bluish
layers will appear on the glass and dishes, which can scratch the glass. Continuous use of too much detergent
can damage the appliance.
Using a small amount of detergent may result in poorly washed dishes. Or whitish streaks may appear on the
dishes.
Read the detergent manufacturer’s instructions for more information.
