CHARGE AND SCAVENGE PUMP

9. Remove the drive and driven gears (20). Keep the

gears set (20) together because they are a matched
set. Examine and replace if necessary. See Paragraph
26, INSPECTION AND REPAIR in this SECTION.

10. Pry the wear plates (7) from the front housing (21),

rear housing (14) or bearing housing (18) with a screw
driver or similar tool. Avoid distorting the wear plates
(7). Remove and discard all rubber channel seals (6)
and housing seals (5).

11. Examine all needle bearings (13) for wear and

discoloration. If replacement is necessary, pull the
bearings (13) with a bearing puller. Any sign wear or
discoloration calls for replacement.

12. It is generally advisable to replace seal rings (15) when

rebuilding unit. To replace, remove the drive gear
bearing with a bearing puller and remove seal ring
from bottom of bearing bore. Check all seal ring bores
in unit for abnormal wear. If worn, replace those
sections.
