I. Adjusting Range Clutch (Output) Shaft Bearing End Play
4. Thread a bolt (1) 5/8”-13 UNC in the end of the output shaft. Rotate and tap the shaft down
using a plastic mallet. Install a dial indicator (2) and zero the dial. With a lever (3) or hoist raise
the shaft, noting the vertical movement of end play (Fig. 7C.52). Add or remove shims to
achieve the desired end play 0.18 – 0.28 [mm]. Rotate and tap the shaft down using a plastic
mallet and recheck end play setting.
5. It is important when adjusting end play that the front range clutch shaft bearing cup be
maintained in a position where it is always being pushed with the manifold toward the bearing
cone when shims are removed to adjust end play. This is necessary because the bearing cup
shoulders on the manifold. If it is determined that end play adjustment falls below the
specification and extra shims need to be added, the shaft must be pulled up again with an
oversize shim pack as shown in Fig. 7C.50 to shoulder the bearing cup on the manifold. Use
caution here not to damaged the manifold seal rings with repositioning the manifold.
6. After the correct end play has been established, install O-ring (22, Fig. 7C.7) on manifold
(20, Fig. 7C.7). Install mounting bolts and torque them to 80 [Nm]. Recheck end play after
manifold bolts are installed.

8. INSTALLATION
1. Be sure the mating surfaces of the transmission manifold (2, Fig. 7C.1) and transmission (1)
are clean and free of any old gasket material. Install the manifold (2) with new gasket (4).
Install the orifice strainer (3).
2. Be sure the mating surfaces of the rate of rise valve (8) and transmission manifold (2) are
clean and free of any old gasket material. Install the rate of rise valve (8) with new gasket (9).
3. Remove the covering from the rear main frame opening.
