3 Prior to use
Before first use, the entrepreneur/user must ensure the
following (see European Directive 89/656/EEC):
z
the fit must be perfect, e. g. to ensure an absolutely tight fit,
z the personal protective equipment must be compatible with
other types of protection equipment worn at the same time,
z the personal protective equipment must be suitable for
existing workplace conditions,
z
the personal protective equipment must meet ergonomic
requirements.
4 Use
4.1 How to use the fastener system
The fastener system has been specially developed for the
chemical protective suits. Generally, the additional seals make
mobility more difficult in comparison to zip fasteners on normal
clothing. To prevent creases in the fastener system, have a
second person pull the trouser leg with the fastener system
over the safety boots using both hands until the fastener
system is free of creases. The protective suit wearer should be
standing upright when opening and closing the fastener
system.
4.1.1 Opening the fastener system
z Fully open the fastener system.
z Always pull zipper tab in direction of zipper mechanism;
ensure that the fastener system is pulled in a straight line!
z Do not use force. The chain links could become twisted!
z If the zipper tab gets caught, pull it back and push it forward
again.
4.1.2 Closing the fastener system
z When closing the fastener system avoid pulling the zipper
tab sideways.
z Pull fastener chains together by hand.
Then the zipper tab will slide more easily.
z Make sure that no foreign objects such as shirt, jacket,
threads, etc. get caught between the links of the chain
when closing the fastener system.
4.2 Preparing the chemical protective suit
1. Check for leaks before using the suit for the first time in
order to detect any damage due to transport. Observe
the maintenance intervals thereafter (see Chapter 7.1 on
Page 27).
2. Place chemical protective suit flat on the ground and
examine visually (see Chapter 7.2 on Page 27).
3. If fitted, check the function of the ventilation unit and its
connection to the self-contained breathing apparatus.
4. Apply the antimist agent "klar-pilot" to the outside of the full
facepiece. If the suit has no antifog visor apply it also to the
inside of the visor.
Attention! Strictly follow the Instructions for
Use.
Protective clothing against gaseous, liquid,
aerosol and solid chemicals.
Protective clothing against infective
agents.
Protective clothing against radioactive
contamination by solid particles.
Assignment of height, waist and chest
measurement to the size of the chemical
protective suit see Chapter 10 on Page 31.
WARNING
The chemical protective suit must be worn in
accordance with the applicable standards and
directives of the country in question.
The environmental impact must be determined prior to
use, since the suitability of the chemical protective suit
must be determined before its use. The chemical
protective suit must only be used for suitable
purposes.
Noncompliance with the above may lead to severe
physical injuries or death.

CAUTION
To prevent damage to the fastener system, both halves
of the zipper must be in parallel and unstressed. Do not
use force when opening and closing the fastener
system or jerk the zipper.
Fastener systems without sufficient lubrication are
more difficult to operate. This can damage the fastener
system. Lubricate the fastener system using the
grease stick supplied by Dräger.
NOTICE
Dräger recommends that you keep the flat bags in
which the chemical protective suit was delivered for
later storage purposes.
WARNING
Do not use a damaged chemical protective suit. If you
do, you risk death or serious injury.
