Purpose of use
Dermapen
TM
is intended to stimulate the skin for
natural collagen induction. It helps with absorption
of active ingredients, skin tightening, lifting and
rejuvenation, acne scars and promotes wound
healing, improves wrinkles and fine lines, minimizes
pore size, improves stretch mark appearance,
improves alopecia and more.
User acknowledgment
We have been advised by Equipmed or the local
representative that the national recommendations
for standard dermal needling treatments which
could apply to the Dermapen
TM
procedures, is that
only qualified health professionals should operate
this procedure to the depth over 1mm. It is the
responsibility of the user/purchaser to be aware of
local recommendations and restrictions. It is the
responsibility of the user to obtain appropriate
insurance cover, if applicable. Full patient history,
consent and risk assessment & pre-post
recommendations and skin preparations should
have taken place before proceeding.

Order of treatment
Step 1 – Cleansing:
• Thoroughly cleanse the skin with an appropriate
cleansing product, suitable to the type of skin
being treated.
• For an optimal effect, it is advisable to remove
dead cells of the stratum corneum with an
exfoliating product such as DP Dermaceuticals
Micro Derm Exfoliant
TM
(peeler, micro-
dermabrasion, exfoliation treatment) before
starting the treatment with Dermapen
TM
.
• Remove all residue of the cleanser followed by
suitable antiseptic toner or wipe.
Step 2 – Spread anaesthetic ointment on the
treatment region:
• (It is important to read the user’s manual of the
anaesthetic cream before its application.)
• Leave on surface of skin for about 15-50 minutes
(depending on product used) before removing
it. Best to occlude with plastic wrap for the
duration of the waiting period.
• Remove all residue of anaesthetic ointment
followed by a suitable antiseptic toner or DP

Step 3 – Treatment with Dermapen
TM
:
1. Plug in adaptor and insert sterilised needle into
the Dermapen
TM
tip.
2. Turn on, select using speed setting on DP2 or
push button on DP3.
3. Select the needle depth and speed of the
Dermapen
TM
that best suits the treatment area.

Step 4 – Active ingredients application & treatment:
Visually section the treatment area into 6 regions;
ie. forehead, chin, cheeks, eye area, nose and lips.
1. Apply a uniform layer of DP Dermaceuticals
Hyla Active
TM
on one treatment region at a time.
The numerous micro holes obtained due to the
needles action will favour the deep penetration
of the active ingredients into the skin.
2. One hand holds the Dermapen
TM
handle and with
your other hand, gently hold the skin or scalp taut.
• Start with stripe-like motions, from left to
right, lifting the needle tip between each
stripe instead of a zig zag motion to avoid
unnecessary reinsertions. Oscillation or
depth may be adjusted mid-procedure.
• Second Pass: while exerting a constant
pressure as shown
in the picture right
- treat from top to
bottom.
• Third pass (if
applicable): treat
while exerting
constant pressure in
a diagonal direction.
• Don’t apply hard
pressure.
