Examine Command
The examine command displays the contents of an address you specify. The address can be
a memory location, register, device, or file.
The syntax of the examine command is shown below:
examine [-{b,w,l,q,o,h,d}] [-{physical, virtual, gpr, fpr,
ipr}] [-n <count>] [-s <step>] [<device>:]<address>
The examine command options are described in Table A-9.

Word of data.
-l
Longword of data.
-q
Quadword of data.
-o
Octaword of data.
-h
Hexaword of data.
-d
Displays data as a decoded macro instruction.
-physical
References physical address space.
-virtual
References virtual address space.
-gpr
References general purpose register address space.
-fpr
References floating point register (FPR) address space.
-ipr
References internal processor register (IPR) address space.
-n <count>
Specifies the number of consecutive locations to examine.
-s <step>
Specifies the address increment as a hexadecimal value. This option
allows you to override the increment that is normally derived from
the data size.
[<device>:]
Selects the device to access.
<address>
Specifies the address of the first location to examine within the
current device.
