Starting a DEC OSF/1 Installation
To start a DEC OSF/1 installation, follow the steps in Table F-3.

If the SRM console is running, go to
step 3.
If the ARC console is running, from
the Boot menu select the
Supplementary menu

select
Set up the system

From the Setup menu, select
Switch to OpenVMS or OSF
console
. Select
Switch to
OSF.
Selecting Switch to OSF will cause the system
to run the SRM console after the next power
cycle.

Cycle the system's power. (Leave
the system off for 20 seconds.)
Cycling power after selecting the OpenVMS or
OSF/1 console results in the system's restarting
with the SRM console running.

At the SRM prompt, type:
>>>set boot_osflags ""
Clear the boot_osflags variable.

At the SRM prompt, type:
>>>
set auto_action halt
Halts the system at the console prompt each
time the system is turned on, crashes, or when
the reset button is pushed.

Insert the DEC OSF/1 for AXP™
Systems CD-ROM into the CD drive.
CD-ROM drive is ready.

At the SRM prompt, type:
>>>show dev
List of devices appears:
dka0.0.0.6.0 DKA0 RZ26L 441A
dka400.4.0.6.0 DKA400 RRD43 3213
dva0.0.0.0.1 DVA0

From the SRM console, boot the
DEC OSF/1 CD-ROM.
>>>boot dka400
Installation information is displayed and you are
prompted to select an option. For more
information, refer to the DEC OSF/1 Installation
Guide.
