Equipment Log
For your convenience, Appendix G, Equipment Log, includes a form on which you can
record all model numbers and serial numbers of your hardware components (system unit,
monitor, keyboard, and mouse) and system hardware configuration information (CPU,
memory size, drive size, ports, and so on).
General Troubleshooting
Tables 4-1 through 4-3 list how to identify and solve problems that could occur with your
system, disk drive, and monitor.

Power indicator not on.
System is not plugged in.
No power at the wall
outlet.
Power supply failure.
Internal power supply
cables not reconnected
after installing options.
Turn off the system, plug it in, and
then turn it back on again.
Use another wall outlet.
Contact your service
representative.
Reconnect cables.
Power is on, but there is
no screen display.
Brightness and contrast
controls are not correctly
set.
Monitor is off.
Monitor cable or power
cord is incorrectly
installed.
Configuration error.
Monitor is defective.
Defective video controller
module.
Adjust the brightness and contrast
controls.
Turn on the monitor.
Check all monitor connections.
Refer to the video module
documentation for more
information.
Try another monitor.
Replace the video module.
