10. Prior to testing:

Inspect the syringe and Spiragrip to ensure that the pressure tubing is not kinked or damaged.
•
Be prepared to keep the syringe and Spiragrip still during the Check, so only the plunger moves.

Keep the syringe and Spiragrip completely still immediately before and after tapping

. The Spirometer Calibration Check screen appears.
Use the required BAR 228 to enter the atmospheric pressure prior to the Calibration Spirometer
Check. For more information on BAR 228, see these sections:

The BAR 228 auto-enters the atmospheric pressure, as indicated by the
animation.
12. Confirm entry of atmospheric pressure from the BAR 228 prior to proceeding with the Spirometer
Calibration check.
13. Only if the BAR 228 is not available, select
Manual
in Spirometer Settings (4.2.4 Spirometry Settings)
and enter atmospheric pressure in the screen depicted above per the following requirement.
Caution
: Enter barometric pressure as given by a barometer in the immediate vicinity. Do not
enter the normalized sea-level pressure as commonly listed on internet sites on meteorological
data resources.
14. Tap
START
. When the Spirometer Calibration Check begins, the progress bar tracks the movement of
the syringe plunger.
Monitor the progress bar to confirm that the plunger has been pushed all the way in.
15. Perform the Spirometer Calibration Check:
1) Push the plunger all the way in.
2) Pull the plunger all the way out, or until the test result message appears.
