Like all electronic devices, this device is susceptible to electrostatic discharge (ESD). ESD typically occurs
when electrostatic energy is transferred to the patient, the electrodes, or the cardiograph. ESD may result
in ECG artifact that may appear as narrow spikes on the cardiograph display or on the printed report.
When ESD occurs, the cardiograph’s calculated measurements may be inconsistent with the physician’s
interpretation.
DO NOT remove the ECG cable connector from the IDM100 Medical Tablet when electrodes are
connected to a patient.
Keep electrodes away from wheels to prevent a hazard when transporting the device on a cart.
The ECG cable and electrodes should be routed away from power cords and any other electrical
equipment. Failure to do so can result in AC power line frequency and interference on the ECG trace.
If using a PTZ camera installed on the IDM100 Medical Tablet USB camera port, you must use supplied
power supply. Failure to do so can result in AC power line frequency and interference on the ECG trace.
DO NOT pull or stretch the electrodes. Doing so could result in mechanical or electrical failures. Store
each set of ECG cable and electrodes in a loose loop.
Avoid pinching or stepping on cables. If a c
able’s impedance is obstructed, measurements may not be
accurate and cable repair may be necessary.
DO NOT clean the patient or cables with pure alcohol. Alcohol can cause the plastic to become brittle and
may cause the cable to fail prematurely.
DO NOT autoclave the cables or use ultrasonic cleaners.
DO NOT immerse the patient or cables.
DO NOT wet the connectors.
Only Dictum Health cables are approved for use. No other cables are approved for use. Dictum Health
ECG cables are IEC-60601-1 compliant for DFIB and performance.
To maintain diagnostic accuracy and to comply with IEC 60601-02-25, do not scale, or re-size, when
sending a saved ECG to an external printer.
15.2 ECG Status Messages
The ECG only operates when the IDM100 Medical Tablet recognizes the connected cable as valid.
A faulty cable, incorrect cable, or loose connection may prompt a warning message:
•
“Detecting Cable Type” is displayed until the presence and type of ECG cable is recognized.
•
“ECG Cable Error” is displayed when the cable is not connected, or if a faulty or incorrect cable is
used.
To resolve the errors, connect a Dictum Health approved ECG cable.
