7.2 Retightening the piston seal
It is necessary to tighten the seal:
•
as soon as slight leaks occur in the area of the piston! In a case such as this, a second inspection must be carried out after
approx. one hour of operation! If tightening does not remedy the problem, the piston seal must be replaced and, if
necessary, the piston!
•
A test must be carried out when the machine has been idle for more than 14 days!
IMPORTANT!
The retightening of the piston seal may only be carried out if the machine cannot be switched on and the complete
system is completely depressurised!
•
Disconnect from the mains!!!
Fig.7.2.1
Procedure: (Fig.7.2.1)
1.
Remove one of the two side protection plates by unscrewing the four
cylinder screws.
2.
If any processing material escapes, remove this completely before
retightening.
3.
Carefully slide the opening of the special open ring spanner (SW17)
over the piston rod and attach to the hexagon of the clamping nut.
4.
Exercise caution when tightening. A maximum of a quarter turn. If
the clamping nut is overtightened, there is a risk of overloading and
the mechanism and the drive unit may be damaged.
