Wing Construction
Begin the construction on the wings by installing the
pin hinges in the ailerons. Use V-poxy. As you did
with the rudders, make sure the hinge pin is close to
the center of rotation and don't get any glue in the
hinge.
When the glue has dried, trial fit the aileron into the
wing. If the pre-drilled holes do not allow positioning
of the aileron midway between the wingtip and flap,
reposition them slightly with a small file. V-poxy will fill
in around the hinge.
You will also need to remove approximately 3 mm
from the hinge cover to allow the aileron to move ap-
proximately 30-35 mm in both directions.
When you are satisfied, apply a liberal amount of V-
poxy into the hinge hole and position the aileron. Use
small, thin, pieces of balsa to provide identical spacing
top and bottom, and tape the trailing edge until the
glue dries.
Remove servo pocket covers and label.
Install the aluminum brackets on both pairs of aileron
and flap servos. Make sure you make a left and a
right pair for each. The spindles are positioned toward
the front of the wing.
If you are using JR servos, do not use the rubber vi-
bration mounts. You will also need to grind the screws
down until they don't protrude from the back of the
bracket. Use Loctite.
Gluing the aileron in place. Make sure it is positioned for adequate
clearance side to side and use small wooden spacers to set top and
bottom distances equally.
Servos are attached to aluminum brackets. Make sure screws are cut
off flush with back of bracket.
