Pipe and Engine
Note: This install did not utilize a bypass. If you are us-
ing a bypass, skip step 2 (bellmouth) and attach straps to
aft of bypass. The bypass, when positioned on the rails,
will also set the position of the pipe. Skip steps 8-11.
Drill 3/32 inch holes in pipe straps (see photo). Insert
pipe into fuselage. You may wish to improve the ap-
pearance of the pipe by painting the aft end flat black.
Position the bellmouth on the pipe. Using a 1/8 inch
drill and button head screws, attach the bellmouth to
the pipe. Install one screw at a time from the inside of
the pipe.
Glue engine rails in place. Rounded end faces for-
ward to clear intake. Make sure mounts are fully
seated and parallel to each other.
Position engine on rails. Location is determined by
positioning pipe approximately 20 mm aft of the fuse
opening and then measuring manufacturers recom-
mended spacing from pipe entrance to engine tail
cone. Mark the position of the mounting tabs. Large
engines may cause pipe to protrude slightly more. .
Remove engine and drill rails for mounting screws.
Using your blower, thoroughly blow all dust and debris
from the entire fuselage and intakes.
Permanently mount engine on rails.
Cut two pieces of 1/4 inch ply 50 mm x 15 mm. Screw
pieces of wood to pipe tail flanges.
Using two pair of pliers, twist the mounting tabs 90
degrees.
Rails glued in position. Engine (Jet Central Rhino) mounted.
Pipe mount strap showing twist and 3/16” ply spacer beneath.
