Preparing the elevator supports: Step 6
Painting: Step 8
Assembling the stern elevator floor: Step 7
Cover the bottom of the hull with paper, below the line of the
masking tape.
Spray the exposed part of the hull with gray paint, applying a few
coats for evenness, but letting the paint dry between each
coating.
Check the elevator supports for burrs. Remove any you find and
then spray the four castings with metal primer.
Fit the elevator supports to the stern elevator floor.
Use the same process as with the bow and central
elevator floors, but this time, fit the supports 1 mm
past the edges of the floor (inset).
Spray the elevator floor assembly with gray paint.
Retrieve these hangar plates from storage and make a note of the
labels (a, b and c) next to the parts.
Place hangar plate (a) over the part of the hangar on the starboard
side of the bow elevator, as shown, aligning the left edge with the
hangar assembly and marking where the right edge ends. Smooth
this right-hand area down so that it is flat.
