Position the drum as shown and flatten the three horizontal
surfaces with a file.
Locate any burrs on these castings, highlighted by the red circles
or red arrows, and remove them with wet and dry paper. Be
careful when smoothing the burrs not to change the shape of
the blue circled areas as these are used during assembly.
Cut the wooden strip in two and glue both pieces to the base of
motor casting (a). Remove any excess wood, leaving 0.5 mm
around the edge of the casting.
