The Hex Dum p Mode is a useful t ool for diagnosing pr oblem s, including com m unicat ion and DPL
synt ax er r or s, allow ing a com par ison of input st rings ( sent by host ) t o out put dat a ( r eceived by
pr int er ) . To decode t his infor m at ion, t he Pr ogr am m er ’s Manual is an essent ial refer ence. This
out put can be used for debugging t he label for m at . I n addit ion, by r epeat edly sending a for m at ,
t his m ode can uncov er handshak ing pr oblem s ( if t hey ex ist ) . Handshak ing pr oblem s ar e ident ified
by sect ions of m issing dat a in t he charact er st r ing.
To pr in t t h e H e x D u m p La be l:
To begin, go t o t he Diagnost ics m enu and enable Hex Dum p Mode; see Sect ion 4.5. Exit t he m enu
and save t he changes. Now , ‘HEX DUMP MODE’ w ill be indicat ed by t he display and all dat a sent t o
t he pr int er w ill now be out put in hexadecim al code, along w it h t he pr int able ASCI I equivalent s, as
show n below . To exit Hex Dum p Mode, r e- ent er t he Diagnost ics Menu and disable t he Hex Dum p
Mode, exit t he m enu, t hen save t he changes.
