Battery Charging
The battery charger is designed to charge 24V sealed lead acid (AGM) deep cycle
batteries to full charge. Even after reaching full charge, as indicated by the steady green
light, the machine may be left plugged into the outlet and therefore the charger may be
left connected to the batteries. The charger uses minimum power in this standby-mode,
maintains the batteries at full charge and extends battery life. This is accomplished with
an electronic circuitry that controls and regulates the amount of charging current that is
sent from the charger to the batteries being charged.
To recharge the batteries, park the WheelChair Mover in a well-ventilated location near
an electrical outlet. The WheelChair Mover must be turned off.
Connect the battery charger to the WheelChair Mover and plug the charger cord
into a wall receptacle. The battery charger will automatically charge the batteries and
shut off when the batteries are fully charged. This takes between two and ten hours,
depending upon initial state of charge and battery condition.
Make sure the power
to the wall receptacle is not turned off during the recharging time.
The LED light indicators of charge state are on the charger and are visible through
the left side ventilation holes in the charger holding pocket.
Leave the charger connected until ready to use the vehicle.
The Wheelchair Mover is inhibited from moving when the charging cord is plugged
into the wall receptacle. Disconnect cord before using.
To use the machine again after charging, unplug the charger and store it.
The lights on the battery charger will show the charging state while the charging cord is
connected. Fully discharged batteries will result in a charging rate of 6 amperes. As the
batteries become fully charged, this rate will drop to less than 1 amp.
Batteries are user replaceable items. Batteries must be replaced by a qualified
facility maintenance technician, or call Dane Technologies at our toll-free service
