Additional 

Relays for Glow Plugs                        

(Caterpillar)

•

There are two relays that operate the glow plugs 
on the Caterpillar diesel powered vehicles: a 
glow plug timer relay, and a glow plug relay.

•

The glow plug timer relay is mounted just 
inboard of the driver’s side hood and dash sup-
port bracket.   

•

The part number for the glow plug timer relay is 
not listed in the Illustrated Parts List, but it may 
be ordered as Cub Cadet part number            
725-04218. See Figure 9.5.

•

The glow plug timer relay governs the operation 
of the glow plug relay that is taped into the 
engine wiring harness.  The glow plug relay con-
trols power to the bus bar that energizes the 
glow plugs. See Figure 9.6.

Addition Relay for Light Bar

•

Location: Open the hood to reach the fuse and 
relay center.  It is mounted on the firewall, imme-
diately forward of the steering column.

•

If equipped with a light bar, the relay will be 
mounted beneath position two of the relay cen-
ter.
