Section 3.5, SBX-3 Dual Serial Port Overview, describes the
functionality of the SBX-3’s two serial ports in detail. NMEA Commands
are discussed in Chapter 5, NMEA 0183 Interface.
The interface levels of the SBX-3 Evaluation Module are described in
the following two sub-sections.
2.6.1 RS-232C Interface Level
When operating with the default RS-232C interface level, the two serial
ports of the internal SBX-3 engine are available for communication as
described in Table 2-3. This manual refers to the SBX-3 primary serial
port as Port 0 and the secondary port as Port 1.

2.6.2 RS-422 Interface Level
When operating at the user selectable RS-422 interface level, you will
have access to only the main serial port of the SBX-3 engine. Table 2-
4 provides pin-assignment information for the data port of the SBX-3
Evaluation Module at the RS-422 interface level.
Section 2.6.4 provides instructions to switch from the default RS-232 to
the RS-422 communications level.
