1.9.5 MGW-1 Combined GPS / Electric
Field Antenna

This antenna provides identical functionality as the MGL-3, however,
uses an innovative E-field beacon element with no requirement for an
external whip antenna. As the MGW -1 contains an E-field beacon
antenna, it requires a ground connection. This antenna may also be
used with separate beacon and GPS receivers with use of the External
Signal Splitter discussed in Section 1.9.7.

The MGW-1 is packaged in the same rugged enclosure as the MBL-3
and MGL-3 antenna.

1.9.6 AVL-1 Automotive Beacon Antenna Coupler

The AVL-1 is an innovative automotive beacon antenna coupler that
accepts a standard AM/FM antenna input and plugs into a beacon
receiver and AM/FM radio. The coupler passes the AM/FM signal to the
radio unchanged, and amplifies the beacon band for output to the
beacon receiver through a BNC socket connector.

The AVL-1 requires 12 VDC input from the beacon receiver, which
powers the internal low noise amplifier and filter circuitry.

1.9.7 External Signal Splitter

The MGL-3 and MGW-1 require the use of the External Signal Splitter
when using separate GPS and beacon receivers. This splitter
separates the GPS and beacon signals from the combined input signal
from the antenna, and directs each to the appropriate receiver.

The external signal splitter allows the beacon receiver to power the
antenna, while blocking a DC voltage applied at the GPS port.

A variety of coaxial cables are available for connection between the
external splitter, beacon receiver, and GPS receiver. Please contact
CSI Wireless for further details on custom cable assemblies.
