Function Codes
The instrument accepts the following function codes:
Exception Response
The instrument forms an exception response by adding 80H to the function
code and using an exception code as the 1-byte data field in the returned
frame. Implemented exception codes are as follows:
List of Data Registers
The following list describes the addresses and meaning of the data registers
in the instrument. The data values are expressed in the engineering units that
were selected for the variables when the instrument settings were
configured. The “Data Type” for the 2-register (4-byte) data values can be
set in programming mode as Floating Point or Long Integer as described in
Communications on page 43.
The registers are grouped in blocks that relate to a particular function of the
instrument.
Note: Conventional numbering of registers often starts from 1, therefore be
aware that “register 1” in this case has “address 0” and so on.
Code Name Description
03 Read data register(s) Obtain the content of one or more 2-byte
data registers.
06 Preset data register Preset one 2-byte data register.
07 Read status register Obtain the content of 1-byte status register.
16 Preset data register(s) Preset one or more 2-byte data registers.
Code Name Description
01 Illegal function The function code is not a legal action for
the slave.
02 Illegal data address The data address is not a legal address for
the slave.
03 Illegal data value The data value is not a legal value for the
slave.
05 Acknowledge The slave has accepted the request and is
processing it, but a long duration of time
will be required to do so.
06 Slave device busy The slave is engaged in processing a long
duration program command. The master
should re-transmit the message later when
the slave is free.
