IP Tunneling Function
(To be supported in the near future)
In TCP/IP, packets belonging to different network groups cannot normally be used. However, a
technique called tunneling or IP tunnel technology can be used to temporarily modify packets belonging
to different network groups so that they can be used. This technique can enable user units to
communicate with the wired LAN as usual even when connected via an AP from a different network
group.
The following example shows how user unit UU1, which belongs to network group A, can connect via a
router to terminal PC1, also in network group A, despite UU1 being connected to the LAN via AP2
which belongs to network group B.
The IP tunneling function will be supported in the near future by updating the firmware (at no charge).
The latest firmware is available at the CONTEC’s web site (http://www.contec.co.jp/en).
