Since every oscilloscope have a limited sampling speed, we will notice quantization distortion issues with
an input signal having a higher frequency. For example, we will get a jagged result when user inputs an 8
MHz sine wave as shown below on the yellow “channel A” trace. There are only 7.5 samples per cycle
from the input signal since with the native sampling rate of 60 MHz. There is not enough information to
draw a smooth waveform.
The Up-Sampling function obtains more information from the sampled signals by shifting the sampled
phase and to produces a result as if we have a higher sampling frequency. This is shown below on the
red “channel B” trace.
