Installing a Fiber Termination Assembly

This topic describes how to install a fiber termination assembly on an FAC 900 or EXM fiber distribution bulkhead. A fiber

termination assembly consists of bundled (n) 12-position SC/APC distribution cassettes with pre-terminated OSP fiber.

Because the termination cassettes in each assembly are pre-terminated to an OSP fiber bundle, installation requires simply

mounting the termination assembly on the bulkhead frame and then routing the OSP cable to the fiber routing duct and then

outside of the cabinet (to interface to the outside plant fiber facilities, such as in a fiber hand-hole).

To install a fiber termination assembly

Unpack the bundled fiber termination assembly from the shipping packaging.

Locate the machine screws to install the assemblies (either shipped with the fiber distribution bulkhead, or

shipped with the enclosure).

Mount the fiber termination assembly to the bulkhead frame as follows:

Feed the fiber pigtails on the back of the termination cassettes through the front of the bulkhead frame.

Slide the termination assembly into the front of the bulkhead frame.

Align the mounting holes on fiber termination assembly with the counterpart holes on the frame.
