Installation Manual

Installing a GPON Splitter Cage and Fiber Distribution Bulkhead Frame

This topic describes how install to a GPON splitter cage and fiber distribution frame(s) into the FAC 900 or EXM for GPON

applications.

The SC adapter plates are included as part of the GPON splitter cage. Fiber management accessories (fiber spool and

routing combs) are included as part of the fiber distribution bulkhead frame.

Note:

For enclosures shipped with the GPON splitter integration kit and fiber distribution bulkhead frame(s) installed, skip

this topic.

To install a GPON splitter cage and fiber distribution bulkhead frame(s)

Unpack the GPON splitter cage assembly from its packaging.

Set aside the following items: fiber staging area, conduit mounting bracket, conduit, (2) conduit fittings, and

twine.

Open the cabinet's side door or EXM door.

Install the splitter cage assembly as follows:

Orient the assembly with the fiber tray in the front.

Position the assembly against the rear inside of the equipment rail, and the top of the assembly flush against

the roof of the enclosure.

Align the assembly mounting holes with the counterpart holes in the rear inside of the rail.

While holding the assembly against the rack, install four mounting screws (2 per side) to secure the assem

bly to the rack. Tighten the screws to 45 in. lbs. of torque.

Unpack the fiber distribution bulkhead frame(s) from its packaging. Set aside the machine screws to later install

the fiber termination assemblies.

Install the fiber distribution bulkhead as follows:

Orient the bulkhead with the fiber spool on the left.

Position the bulkhead flush under the GPON splitter cage assembly, and against the front equipment rail.

Align at least two bulkhead mounting holes with the holes on the rail.
