6 - MAINTENANCE

To adjust the belt tension proceed as follows:

Remove the locking screw

(1)

Remove the locking screw

(2)

Use the adjusting screw

(3)

to move the alter-

nator outwards until the belt tension is correct.

Tighten the alternator mounting bolts

(1)

and

(2)

SMIL13CEX2776AB

NOTE:

If the belt is damaged, "ALTERNATOR" is displayed on the message screen.

To replace the belt proceed as follows:

Stop the engine.

Remove the key from the starter switch.

Remove the locking screws

(1)

Remove the locking screws

(2)

Use the adjusting screw

(3)

to push the alter-

nator inwards.

Remove the worn belt.

Install a new belt.

Use the adjusting screw

(3)

to adjust the belt.

Tighten the locking screws

(1)

and

(2)

again.

10.

Run the engine for about

1 h

, then check the

belt tension again.

11.

Set the deflection to be in the range

7.7 - 8.7
