Performing Updates with a USB Flash Drive
Upgrades can be done remotely, via over-the-air upgrades, or using a standard USB flash
drive.
To prepare your USB flash drive for use with a CarrierMate
™
device it must have two folders
created on the card. The folders must be named exactly the way they are listed below.

“
ceImage
” – This folder holds the CarrierWeb
®
firmware that you will be upgrading to
•
“
osImage
” – This folder holds the Operating system (OS) that you will be upgrading to
For the CarrierMate
™
device to read the USB flash drive insert the drive on the right side
panel of the unit. With the USB flash drive inserted press the reset button located just below
the USB slot holding the flash drive. The unit will reboot, wait till you hear the startup chime
and then press and hold F1 until you see the Flash drive options below along the bottom of
the screen.

F3. Install Original FW from SD card
F4. Exit menu

Updating a CarrierMate
™
device’s Operating system (OS)
a.
Press
F1
for “USB Flash Drive Options” and wait while the USB is enabled
b.
Press
F4
to “Update the OS from USB Flash Drive”
c.
Press
F2
to “Confirm Update OS” and wait while the operating system files are
copied to the SD card in the device
d.
Once the files have been copied over to the SD card the unit will boot up like
normal.
e.
Press the
reset button
again and while holding down the “
Sensors
” key until
you are presented with the “System Setup Screen”
f.
Press
F1
SD Upgrade to update your OS and wait for the progress bar
g.
Once it’s completed you will see a blue screen that says “Succeed to update,
please Cold boot (reset)!!!”
h.
It will take 3-5 minutes for the unit to boot back up.

Updating a CarrierMate
™
device’s firmware (FW)
a.
Press
F1
for “USB Flash Drive Options” and wait while the USB is enabled
b.
Press
F3
to “Install FW x.x.x.x (x.x.x.x is the new version) from USB Flash Drive”
c.
Press
F2
to “Confirm Install FW” and wait while the files are copied to the SD
card
Once the files have been copied to the SD card the device will boot up like normal, installing
the new firmware (FW).
