AMI Configuration Commands
B.8.10.2
Configuring EFCI on a Port
This command allows the user to designate the cell buffer threshold over
which Available Bit Rate (ABR) cells and Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR) cells
have their explicit forward congestion indicator (EFCI) code point set. When
the EFCI code point is set, this signals congestion to downstream switch fab-
rics and to future ABR and UBR flow control mechanisms. Once this thresh-
old is surpassed, EFCI continues to be set until the queue empties.
NOTE:
This command applies to FORE Systems’
Series C network modules only.
Enter the following parameters:
localhost::configuration port traffic>
efci <port> (on | off) <threshold>
port
Indicates the port on which the EFCI threshold will
be set.
on|off
On
means the EFCI will be set when the threshold
number is reached, signalling congestion.
Off
means
the EFCI will be cleared when the threshold number
is reached, indicating no congestion.
threshold
Indicates the number of cells over which the ABR
cells and the UBR cells will have EFCI set. The
default value is 64 cells.
