Configuring an Emulated LAN

ELAN

marketing

has three instances,

, and

. These three instances

provide LECs that join the ELAN

marketing

the information necessary to

implement the LEC “failover” mechanism.

marketing|0

defines the primary

services for the ELAN. If

marketing|0

fails, LECs connected to it can auto-

matically switch to

marketing|1

and continue operating (while periodically

attempting to rejoin

marketing|0

). If

marketing|1

were also to fail, the

LECs could then switch to services on

Two LECs, whose MAC addresses are

identified as acceptable clients for the
