Removing an Expansion Card

Caution

PCI add-in boards are extremely sensitive to electric static
discharge (ESD) and always require careful handling. After
removing the add-in board from its protective wrapper or from
the server board, place it with the component side up on a
grounded, static-free surface or conductive foam pad. Do not
slide the add-in board over any surface.

1.

Remove the left side cover.

See “Removing the Left Side Cover” on page 201.

2.

Remove the front panel.

See “Removing the Front Panel” on page 203.

3.

Open the back panel PCI Add-in Card Retention Device by pressing open from

the inside of the chassis.

4.

Disconnect any cables that may be attached to the PCI add-in board that needs

to be removed.

5.

Firmly grab the PCI add-in board by its top edge or upper corners and remove

it from the expansion slot on the server board (A).

Place the removed add-in board in an anti-static protective wrapper.
