5.3 Stage Control and Video Settings
Every sample must be positioned accurately for the measurement by means of a sample stage.
There are various stages available, each requiring a different operation.
5.3.1 Manual Z Stage
Every sample must be positioned accurately for the measurement.
The manual Z stage is preferably used for the M1 ORA
PC
. The sample is positioned on the sample
stage and the correct measuring distance is set manually, by moving the sample into the focal
plane of the video camera. It is achieved when the sample image in the optical microscope shows
the best contrast.

5.3.2 Motorized Z Stage
The motorized Z stage is available as standard equipment for the M1 MISTRAL
PC
or an optional
accessory for the M1 ORA. The sample is manually positioned in the XY plane, whereas the
optimal sample height is adjusted via the motorized Auto Focus function. Fig. 32 shows the
available functions.

Scroll bars for the stage movement in Z direction
 Moving the scroll bars moves the stage in the
appropriate direction
 Clicking on the arrow keys moves the stage in
small steps
