THE SC IV REAR SUSPENSION
All suspensions in the past have been designed with the fact that the rider was sitting over the rear ar m .
W ith this in m ind, engineers have
designed m ost of the bu m p absorp-
tion into the rear ar m . T he front ar m
was for the m ost part looked at only
as a m eans of adjusting weight
transfer and has always been of a
falling rate design.
T he SC-10, II &
III are both excellent suspensions
and have been finely tuned to work
very well over the past few years.
However with the advent of the
REV and it’s forward riding position
engineers decided to rethink and
i
m prove the rear suspension.
Since the rider is now seated close to the front ar m the roles of the front and rear ar m were changed.
Conventionally designed suspensions work very well in m ost riding conditions, however, weight trans-
fer and bu m p absorption in the deepest m oguls could be m ade even better.
T his is where the SC IV co m es in, it is the first rear suspension designed fro m the ground up with the
rider sitting close to the front ar m in m ind.
T he goals were relatively si m ple however they have taken a total redesign to achieve.
1. Increase weight transfer fro m 0-30 m ph.
2. Decrease weight transfer at higher trail speeds to i m prove feel when exiting out of corners.
3. Opti m ize center shock m otion ratio for the REV and R T chassis.
4. Increase rear suspension travel.
5. Increase overall strength.
6. Reduce overall weight.
T he engineers have acco m plished all of this and m ore with the SC IV rear suspension which was race
tested for the past two seasons on our open m od race sleds. As part of our continued efforts to i m prove
our products, this suspension is now m aking its way to production on selected 2005 m odels.
