8. From the Import dialog box, select the format of the document you are
importing and click on Import.
9. Eject the Import/Export libraries diskette, insert the diskette that
contains the document you wish to import, and click on OK.
To export a document:
1. Open the document you wish to export.
2. From the File menu, choose Other.
3. Select Export Document.
4. Insert Diskette 2 and click on OK.
5. Select the format to be exported to (ASCII, etc.) and click on OK.
6. Insert the document diskette.
7. Type the name of the export file (be sure to include the DOS file
extensions if any).
8. Click on the export button or press
ENTER

Naming a DOS File
If you plan to use any of your documents on a computer that uses DOS,
you will want to create a name that DOS will recognize. DOS files can be
, followed by an optional period and three
more characters. The optional three characters following a DOS file name
are called the , which usually indicates the type of data the file
contains. A DOS text file, such as one created with Text File Editor, should
be given a .TXT extension to be consistent with other DOS files of the
same type.
DOS file names can only contain the letters A through Z, the numbers 0
through 9, and the following :

exclamation
point

percentage

% ampersand &

parentheses ( ) at sign @

DOS names cannot contain spaces, commas, backslashes, asterisks,
question marks, or periods (except the period following the first eight
characters). The letters are always converted to upper case.
The maximum size for a Word
Processing import document is
45k. The maximum size for
Spreadsheet is 40k. Maximum
graphics import size is 35k.
File Manager can create DOS
documents; these documents
must have a DOS file name. If
you need to use a DOS name, the
application you’re using will tell
you. However
, most documents
use Ensemble document names,
which are more flexible.
