Using Text in Drawings
In Drawing, you enter text in text objects . Each text object can contain as
little or as much text as you like Ċ from a single letter to multiple
paragraphs. To create text objects, you use the Text tool. You can move,
delete, and resize text objects just as you would any other object (a line,
rectangle, or ellipse). You use the Text tool to place text in your drawing,
and you use the Text menu to change the way text appears. You can edit
and change the attributes oftext at any time, even after you have rotated
or flipped a text object. You can change the following text attributes:

Font
S
Size
S
Style
S
Tone
S
Alignment

To create a text object:
1. Select the Text tool from the tool bar. The pointer changes to crossed
I-beams when you move it over the drawing area.
2. Position the I-beams where you want your text to begin; click and drag
diagonally to outline the area in which you want the text to appear. A
dotted line shows the borders of the text object.
3. Release the mouse button. The border of the text object appears with a
blinkingvertical line, the insertion point, showing where you can begin
typing. The default font is 12 point Roman.
4. Begin typing. Asyou type, text wraps within the text object, and the object
automaticallygrows vertically to accommodate new lines of text. Do not
use
ENTER
unless you want to begin a new paragraph. If you later resize
yourtextobject,wordwrapwillautomaticallyadjustthelineendingsfor
you, unless you press
ENTER
at the end of each line.

To enter and edit text in a text object:
Use the basic text editing techniques available in all applications, including
BACKSPACE
and
DELETE
keys, and the Undo, Cut, Copy, and Paste
choices on the Edit menu.

To create text in different sizes:
1. Select the Text tool from the tool bar.
2. Position the crossed I-beam pointer where you want to begin typing.
3. Hold down
CODE;
then press the left mouse button and drag the mouse
diagonally to create your text object. The size of your type will be the
depth of the object you create.
To quickly create a standard–size
text object, select the Text T
ool,
and then click where you want to
begin entering text. Drawing
automatically creates a text
object six inches across and one
line deep. As you type, the text
object automatically grows
vertically to accommodate new
lines of text. You can resize the
object later if you like.
