tion and layout
3.1 Typical areas of application
A typical application is supplying machine tools with cooling lubricant and dis-
posing of it.
The machine tool transfers requirements (e.g. regarding pressure or flow rate)
according to its operating condition. The controller controls based on these
specifications and its configuration, as well as the parameters set for the pumps
and actuators that are connected, in order to operate the pumps at the optimum
operating point for instance.
The pump controller can control up to 6 pumps and the sensors and actuators
such as valves or shut-off valves connected to form a
functional unit (“complete
installation”). The pumps can be used individually or as a group. Different appli-
cations can be assigned to the pumps, of which there are up to 6 different pos-
sibilities.
The typical tasks include:

supplying machine tools and machining centres with cooling lubricant

pumping filtered cooling lubricant or cooling lubricant that contains chips

filtering the cooling lubricant return line from the machine tool or the machining
centre
The processes required for this are stored as application modules in the pump
controller.

