STORAGE AND PRESEASON PREPARATION
3. Loosen the clamp retaining the in-
tercooler inlet hose.
4. Remove the intercooler inlet hose
from the intercooler.
NOTE:
This hose feeds the hot, com-

3. Intercooler inlet hose
5. The intercooler air side is self-drain-
ing into the intercooler inlet-side
manifold. By disconnecting the in-
tercooler inlet hose, the presence of
condensated water can be visually
assessed and properly drained off
without the engine running.
6. Reinstall the intercooler air outlet
hose, ensure it is properly aligned
as prior to removal to ensure proper
engine operation.
Exhaust System Draining
In areas where temperature may
freeze, water trapped in the exhaust
system and intercooler must be re-
moved.
Using the flushing connector, inject
pressurized air at 379 kPa (55 PSI) into
system until there is no more water
flowing from jet pump.

2. Hose 12.7 mm (1/2 in)
3. Air hose male adapter
NOTICE
Failure to drain the ex-
haust system may cause severe
damage to the intercooler (super-
charged models) and exhaust mani-
fold.
Remove special tools.
Engine Internal Lubrication
1. Remove the seats.
2. Remove ignition coils,
refer to
MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
.
3. Remove spark plugs, refer to
MAIN-
TENANCE PROCEDURES
.
4. Spray XPS LUBE (P/N 293 600 016)
or equivalent in spark plug holes.
5. To prevent fuel from being injected
and to disable the ignition during en-
gine cranking, fully depress throttle
lever and HOLD against handlebar.
6. Press the START/STOP button to
crank the engine a few turns. This
will distribute the oil on the cylinder
walls.
