Projector Screen - general information
Screen choices
Screen Size
General considerations regarding projector distance and viewing distance are mentioned in this paragraph. More details are found on the
following pages.
The screen size depends on the projector and especially the projector lens chosen. The projector lens has a Throw Ratio of e.g. 1.75 (min.) to
2.48 (max.) that multiplied by the width of the screen gives the Throw Distance.
The actual choice of viewing distance is a compromise of the most often seen formats (2D or 3D), the screen size, and the size of the room. As a
rule of thumb the viewing distance for 3D is approximately 0.7 times that of 2D.
Screen material
The gain rating of a screen is based on how much light it reflects. All Home Cinemas should have control of lighting and draperies, a low gain or
even a gain below 1 is preferred. A gain less than 1 is when the screen reflects less light (perpendicular to the screen) than a perfect white matte
(lambertian) reflector, and this is recommended if a projector with a very high light output is used. A gain below 1 will mean improvement in
contrasts and a improved black level. We recommend screens with a black framing to reduce the visual impression of overspread picture.
Screen style
Motorized or fixed, tab tensioned or flat hanging according to the customer’s wishes.
Tip
The SIM2 Crystal Cube projector is widely used (although fully supporte) requires a setting in the Sustomer Servuce menu to stop image flickering.
Enter the
Customer Service Menu > PICTURE ADJUSTMENT
and set the FRAME SYNC to OFF.
