4.2.3 Special notes
The ultrasound generators are calibrated to a standard ultrasonic converter for uniform operation.
In order to prevent damage to sieves, the ultrasonic converter or the ultrasonic generator,
the maximum power setting should not exceed 80 W of continuous mains power.
Due to the di
ff
erent sizes and tolerances of the sieves, the ultrasonic generator also operates
at di
ff
erent resonance frequencies and operating points that may deviate from the basic setting.
The quality of the coupling between the ultrasonic converter and the sieve, the stability of
the cover and the loading of the sieve also play a role.
As such, it is advisable to proceed as follows in order to prevent potential damage:
• It is essential to observe the screen manufacturer’s instructions regarding maximum
permissible electrical power.
• Before starting the ultrasound generator, set the power setting to 40 W.
• Set the target power only after starting ultrasound operation.
• When using for the
fi
rst time, check the mains power consumption and, if necessary,
set a limit value for the maximum POWER controller setting based on the sieve in use.
• Check the mains power consumption at regular intervals and after changing the sieve
and/or ultrasonic converter.
A commercially available wattmeter can be used to measure the mains power.
