Valid automotive electrical system testing depends on all the components
being in good operating condition. In addition, the battery MUST have
sufficient charge for testing. Carefully perform the following before
attempting electrical diagnosis.
n
Inspect Battery
for terminal corrosion, loose broken posts, cracks in
the case, loose hold-downs, low electrolyte level, moisture, and dirt
around the terminal.
n
Important Note: A known defective battery must be replaced
before proceeding with any test on the charging or starting
system.
n
Inspect Belts
for cracks, glazed surface and fraying. Tighten loose
belts. Inspect auto-tensioner for proper belt tension.
n
Inspect Starting System.
Check starter, solenoid, and alternator for
loose connections, loose mounts and frayed or cracked wires.
Loose Hold-downs
Corrosion
Check for loose
belts and auto
tensioner.
Gives the version of the software.

The program can be updated to the most recent version by reflashing the
memory. Before turning the unit on hold the (N Exc.) and the (Y Enter) key down
simultaneously. The following will appear.
When a computer can be attached to the
unit in the same way the test data can
be downloaded. “REFLASHING!”will
then appear.
The software will be available from a CD or can be downloaded from our website.
