Warnings
To avoid the possibility of injury
always ensure that:
•
the equipment is used by appropriate trained
staff.
•
Calypso is moved with care, especially in narrow
passages, over bumps etc. and that the resident
safety straps are secured.
•
the chair is kept at a low level during transporta-
tion to achieve better stability.
•
Calypso is lowered to the lowest possible height
immediately after removing the resident.
•
the castors and brakes work freely.
•
the castors are locked on Calypso during resident
transfer from/to bed etc. and when Calypso is sta-
tionary.
•
bed castors are locked during resident transfer
from/to bed.
•
the safety straps are in good condition and
properly fastened.
•
all screws are tightened.
•
the hydraulic system is working smoothly (rais-
ing and lowering).
•
there are no sharp edges or parts coming in con-
tact with residents.
•
drain covered areas need to be smooth and lev-
elled with the floor in order to move the lift safely.
•
the slope of the floor does not exceed the ratio
1:50.
When positioning Calypso, do
not stand in the direction of the
movement of the hand rest. An
unexpected movement of the
arms upwards by the resident
can injure the caregiver.

the
Calypso
is always moved in the right direc-
tion.The lift has a lower stability and can tilt when
moved in the wrong driving direction. Always
move the lift in the right direction.
When the scale (accessory) is
mounted on Calypso:
•
there could be a risk of getting jammed between
the scale base and the swivelling castors. Keep
this area free.
Battery charger safety practices:
•
The charger is designed for dry areas only and for
normal air humidity conditions.
•
Don’t expose the charger to water or dust.
•
Do not cover the charger.
Battery safety practices:
•
Use only the charger supplied with the equip-
ment.
•
Do not charge batteries in a sealed container.
•
Be careful not to drop the battery.
•
Do not place batteries near a heat source or fire.
•
Do not short-circuit the battery.
•
Do not store batteries at a temperature higher
than 50 °C (122 °F).
•
Do not crush, puncture, open, dismantle or other-
wise mechanically interfere with the batteries.
•
Should the battery casing crack and inside con-
tent come in contact with skin or clothing, rinse
immediately with water.
If content comes in contact with the eyes,
rinse immediately with plenty of water and
seek medical attention.
•
Inhalation of the content can cause respiratory
irritation. Sensitivity of nickel can cause allergic
asthma. Provide fresh air and medical attention.
•
Contact the appropriate local authority for advice
when disposing of batteries.
•
Check labels on the battery.Don’t expose the bat-
teries or chargers to flames.
•
Don’t expose the battery connector to water
•
Don’t use the charger in the presence of inflam-
mable anaesthetic gases.
