Applying the Sling
In Chair/Wheelchair (17 steps)

1. Place

2. Apply the brakes on the wheelchair.
3. In case of using
6DUD6WHG\
lift, make sure
you:
• Fold up the seat pads and let the patient
step up onto the
6DUD6WHG\
.
• Fold down the seat pads and let the
patient sit down.
4. Place the sling around the patient’s lower
back. If needed, slightly lean the patient
forward.

5. For machine washable slings and Flites:
Position the bottom of the sling, aligned

For wipeable sling: Position the wipeable sling
centred around the patient’s waistline and
make sure the soft lilac surface is in contact

6. Make sure that:
• patient’s arms are outside the sling,
• support belt is positioned loosely
around the patient’s body and
• support belt is not twisted or
trapped behind the patient’s back.
7. In case of using
6DUD6DUD)OH[
lift,
PDNHVXUH\RXSODFHWKHOHJÀDSVDURXQGWKH
legs and these are not twisted.

Fasten the support belt securely by pressing
the buckles or hook and loop attachments
together. The support belt should be tight but
comfortable for the patient.
WARNING
To avoid injury to the patient, pay close
attention when lowering or adjusting
the spreader bar.
9. Position the
6DUD6DUD/LWH6DUD)OH[
lift in front of the patient. Open up the lift legs,
if needed. See appropriate lift

.
10. Place the patient’s feet on the lift foot support.
In case of using
6DUD6DUD/LWH6DUD
Flex
lifts, make sure the patient’s legs are in
contact with the knee support.
11. Apply the brakes on the lift.
12. Attach the sling to the lift. See
“Clip
Attachment & Detachment” on page 9 and
(See Fig. 11 )
If the attachment strap is too loose, choose
the inner attachment clip. If the attachment
strap is too tight, choose the outer attachment
clip.

WARNING
To avoid the patient from falling, make sure
that the sling attachments are attached
securely before and during the lifting
process.
14. Make sure that all clips/loops are attached
securely and the patient is comfortable
in the sling.
(See Fig. 6 )
15. If an adjustment is needed, lower the patient
and make sure that the weight of the patient
is taken up by the receiving surface before
removing the clip/loop.
16. Encourage the patient to assist during the
raising exercise by holding on to the support
grips with both hands.
17. Continue raising until the patient is in a
comfortable standing position. Make sure
the patient leans back against the sling at all
times. See corresponding lift
