Before parking the vehicle:
u
Choose a suitable parking area.
u
Stop the vehicle, see page 76
(STOPPING).
NOTE
To stop the vehicle, exclusively
use the ignition switch (5).
Leave the engine stop switch (3) in the
“
” (ON) position; use it only in case of
emergency.
CAUTION
Do not leave the ignition on if you have
stopped (for emergency) the engine by
moving the engine stop switch to the
“
”
( O F F ) p o s i t i o n a s t h i s w i l l
d i s c h a r g e t h e b a t t e r y . W h e n , f o r
emergency, the vehicle has come to
rest after stopping the engine with the
engine stop switch, turn the ignition
switch (5) to the
“
”
(OFF) position.

Set the engine kill switch (3) on "
".
u
Rotate the key (4) and move the ignition
switch (5) to the “
” (OFF) position.
WARNING
Observe the instructions describing
how to get off and on the vehicle, see
page 65 (GETTING ON AND OFF THE
VEHICLE).

Following the instructions, wait until the
passenger has got off the vehicle before,
dismounting.
NOTE
Never leave the key in the ignition
switch.
u
Lock the steering, see page 43
(STEERING LOCK) and extract the key.
When you have to park your vehicle in a
dark or badly lit area (parking lot or street),
it is sometimes useful to leave the parking
lights on so that your vehicle will be easily
visible.

WARNING
Make sure the vehicle is stable when
parked. If it falls down, it will certainly
be damaged and could injure others as
well.
PLACING THE VEHICLE ON THE
STAND
Carefully read page 76 (PARKING).
SIDE STAND
To place the vehicle on the side stand
while seated astride the vehicle, see
page 65 (GETTING ON AND OFF THE
VEHICLE).
If any maneuver (for example, moving the
vehicle) requires the stowing of the stand,
to place the vehicle on the stand again,
proceed as follows:
WARNING
Make sure that the parking surface is
free from obstacles, firm and flat.
