Whenever you want to manually send or receive Outlook e-mail on the device, just connect the
device to computer, LAN, or over-the-air connection, then tap
Sync
on the ActiveSync screen or
tap
Menu > Send/
Receive
in Outlook on your device.
Set up a POP3/IMAP4 e-mail account
In case that you have an email account with an Internet service provider (ISP) or an account
that you access using a VPN server connection (typically a work account), you can set up a
POP3 or IMAP4 e-mail account on the device.
1.
Tap
Start > Messaging
.
2.
Tap
Menu > Tools > New Account
.
3.
Select
Other (POP3/IMAP)
in the
e-mail provider
list, and tap
Next
.
4.
Enter your e-mail address, and tap
Next
.
Auto configuration
tries to download necessary e-
mail server settings so that you do
not need to enter them manually.
5.
Once
Auto configuration
has completed, tap
Next
.
6.
Enter your name (the name to be displayed when sending e-mail), user name, and password,
and tap
Next
. If you don’t want to enter password again, select the
Save password
check
box. If
Auto configuration
was successful, the
Your name
and
User name
fields
automatically get populated. Complete the setup by tapping
Finish
.
You can access
additional settings by tapping
Options
under
Server information
. For example:
•
Change the time intervals for downloading new messages.
•
Limit the amount of messages to be downloaded and choose authentication method for
outgoing mails.
•
Download full messages or parts of messages.
If
Auto configuration
is unsuccessful or you have an account you access using a VPN server
connection, contact your ISP or network administrator for the following information and enter it
manually:

Description
User name
Enter the user name assigned to you by your ISP or network
administrator. This can be the first part of your e-mail address,
which appears before @.
Password
Enter strong password. If you save password, you don’t have to
enter it again next time.
Account type
Choose POP3 or IMAP4.
Account name
Enter a unique name for the account, such as Work or Home. You
cannot change this later.
