Chapter 3 Application Ethernet
Duration pane
All RFC2544 tests are executed in steps. A step is a specific combination
of a frame size and line load. During a step, frames with the specified
size are transmitted at the specific line load. The number of steps run
during a test depends on the selected number of frame sizes and line
loads.
The Step Duration time can be set in number of seconds (3 seconds) on
the Duration pane. This is approximately the time duration of each test
step.
The Test Repetitions field sets the number of times the complete test will
run. The possible setting range is 1 to 1000 times. The Duration pane is
similar to the RFC2544 Throughtput Duration pane; see Figure 3.8.1-3.
Destination pane
The Destination setup is similar to that of the Ping test setup. See
section 3.6.1 for further details.
Frame Size pane
The Frame Size pane has checkboxes for the predefined sizes 64, 128,
256, 512, 768, 1024, 1280, 1518 and Jumbo Frame. The jumbo frame size
can be set from 1519 to 10000. The Frame Size pane is similar to the
RFC2544 Throughtput Frame Size pane; see Figure 3.8.1-4.
Note
The RFC test cannot be started without selecting at least one frame size.
