Safety instructions
For your own safety and to ensure error-free and safe operation of the contrAA 600, please
read this section carefully before using the appliance.
Comply with all safety instructions in the manual and pay careful attention to all messages
and notes which are displayed on the screen by the control software.
Also observe the safety instructions for system components by other manufacturers supplied
with this device (e.g. PC, printer, autosampler). It is particularly important to comply with the
safety instructions on the labels as well as the information on handling, storage and disposal
of the reagents.

General safety instructions
PROPER USE!
The contrAA 600 may only be used for atomic absorption spectrometry in the techniques
described in this manual.
LOCAL REGULATIONS!
Observe the local safety regulations that apply to the use of this device (e.g., work protection
regulations, accident prevention regulations, safety regulations).
References to potential dangers in the manual do not replace the work protection regulations
which must be observed.
PERSONNEL!
The contrAA 600 may only be operated by qualified personnel, who have received additional
training for this type of work. Familiarization with the contents of this manual and the accom-
panying manuals of accessories and system components must be included in this training.
Any work on electrical equipment may only be carried out by qualified electricians.
WARNING! PROTECTION AGAINST EXPLOSION AND FIRE
The contrAA 600 may not be operated in an explosive environment.
No smoking is allowed in the operating room of the contrAA 600.
INSTALLATION AND INITIAL USE
The device may only be assembled, installed and repaired by the service engineers from
Analytik Jena AG or by technical personnel authorized by Analytik Jena AG. Any unauthor-
ized interference may place the operator in danger or endanger the functional safety of the
instrument and limits warranty entitlements.
