NIR-B Borescope
Electrical Auto Retract
10.1 Operational Checks
WARNING
Make sure that the base frame is fully supported during installation.
WARNING
If, for any reason, the water jacket is to be removed from the AR
System, this task
must
be undertaken by a
minimum of two
competent
personnel.
It is recommended that the AR system is tested once a month
The full test involves retracting the borescope, and then applying each of the failure
modes in turn - checking that the correct error message is displayed on the PLC & the
operation of the indicator lights.
WARNING
The test involves opening the door of the retract ECU whilst the unit is
powered. As such, it should only be performed by suitably trained and
qualified service personnel.
The test involves removing the water cooling and purge air – this is only
done with the borescope fully retracted, and should only be done briefly
(<10 seconds) if you are in high ambient temperature conditions.
WARNING
Do not test the water/air sensors by switching off the water/air when the
probe is in the process. Retract the probe first and then test the sensor,
as described below.
1)
Check for loose wiring or any other damage to cables and/or conduits.
Check the battery enclosure for signs of leakage.
2)
Retract the slide by operating the retract switch.
Observe that the slide retracts smoothly to its home position.
Observe that the shutter closes when the slide is fully extracted.
Observe that there is no fault condition (no red light)
3)
Open the control box so that the display on the PLC can be observed.
4)
Turn off the cooling water supply. For PLC firmware version 2.1 and above, the
Auto Retract will operate when the water has been off for over three minutes;
