FAULT FINDING
Caution
This section provides general details for diagnosing possible faults that may occur during normal operation of
the Heatsan. Some of the remedial actions can only be carried out by qualified personnel. Do not attempt to
carry out any action if it involves inspecting/replacing an electrical/mechanical component without in the first
instance contacting AmeriWater for advice. Please be aware that the unit/system may under certain fault
conditions still be under pressure and contain water at scalding temperature. When investigating any alarm take
appropriate precautions to prevent possible injury. NEVER attempt to dismantle the unit under these conditions.
Always contact AmeriWater for advice.
Data Alarm List
To return the unit back into service the alarm(s) will have to be individually reset and acknowledged. Before
acknowledging any alarm the fault should be thoroughly investigated and cleared.

“Pump Fault
Trip Condition”
1. Caused by motor overload tripping,
(Ref 1Q1) due to short circuit or thermal
overload.
1. Bearing failure.
2. Obstruction in pump.
3. Motor windings shorting out.
4. Excess ambient temp.
5. Faulty overload.
6. Loss of a phase.
7. Contactor set too close to run
current.
1. Inspect bearings and replace where
necessary.
2. Inspect pump inlet, remove any debris.
3. Replace motor.
4. Increase ventilation.
5. Replace overload.
6. Check wiring to contactor is not loose
or frayed.
7. Check current trip setting dial is at 10 A.
“Pump Fault –
Contactor
Error”
1. Caused by the motor contactor (1K1M)
not switching when requested. The PLC
should signal the contactor to operate,
when the contactor switches, an auxiliary
contact should give the PLC a signal. If the
PLC does not receive a return signal
within a preset time, then a fault alarm is
raised.
1. Contactor failure.
1. Replace contactor.
2. Check that the wiring to contactor 1Q1
is not loose or frayed.
3. Check that the current trip setting on
the motor starter is set to 10 A.
