Chapter 2. Configuration
RSSI/SkyWave Inmarsat D+ Satellite Network:
The APM4AM-
SAT WS uses an RSSI that is on a scale from 0.00dB to 50.00dB.
The RSSI reading indicates the strength of the signal received from
the satellite. RSSI readings above 14dB indicate a strong signal and
better communications with the satellite. Readings below 14dB
indicate the satellite terminal is unable to communicate with the
satellite, which results in no data transmissions from the unit.
I
MPORTANT
:
Footprint anomalies, extreme weather conditions,
and intermittent obstacles on the horizon can cause
communications failure with the SkyWave Inmarsat D+ satellite. A
successful look angle (azimuth and elevation angle) does not
necessarily mean reliable satellite coverage. Low look angles (less
than 15 degrees elevation) may also be subject to fading due to rain,
snow, clouds, and other weather conditions. Every attempt has
been made to ensure the highest level of system availability and
reliability. However, the factors previously mentioned may have an
impact on the provided service.
Unit Information
Unit Information
(Figure 2-3) shows information related to the unit and
firmware.
Unit Information
may also include identification numbers that
have been assigned to the satellite terminal. When information is
unavailable or does not apply to a particular unit type, the abbreviation
n/
a
displays in the field.

Serial No:
All units are assigned a unique serial number for
identification purposes. The Bullhorn website refers to the serial
number as
Unit ID Number
