
ATD
Dial
The dial command switches the modem on-line and dials the number indicated by the
numbers following ATD. If no telephone number is indicated, the modem will switch on-
line and it will try to build up a connection in the originate mode. The modem will wait
for a carrier until the time specified in register S7 (default 60 seconds) and then build up
the connection. When this time has expired before the total connection has been
established, the modem will switch off-line (on hook) and it will give the text ‘NO
CARRIER’.
The approved telephone number parameters are given below.
Points may be used to make things clear. Brackets, hyphens, and spaces are ignored.

The modem will wait for the dialtone before dialling the given number.
If no dialtone is recognized within the time specified in the register S6, the
modem will switch off-line and give a message ‘NO DIALTONE’

Wait for silence: The modem waits for at least 5 seconds of silence on the line
before it executes the dial command. If the modem does not detect these 5
seconds of silence before the expiration of the time of S7, the dialling
procedure will be inter rupted and the message ‘NO ANSWER’ will be given.
If the “busy detection”has been switched on, the message ‘BUSY’ will be
shown. If the modem detects an answering tone, the connection is built up

Dial pause: The modem will pause during the time specified in register S8
before the following numbers are dialled

Repeat last number:
With this parameter, the modem will repeat the number dialled last

Return to the command mode: With this command at the end of the entered
telephone number, the TRON Secure 33.6 switches to the command mode after
processing the commands given in front of the ; character. This offers the user
the possibility to enter extra AT commands while the modem is on-line.
The extra AT commands may also be placed into the original command line after
the ; character. The TRON Secure 33.6 will only continue to dial if an extra
command is given without the ; character. In this case, use the ATH command
to interrupt the dialling procedur e
