Continuous operation (CM)

The XL5000 can be changed from intermittent to continuous operating mode easily. Minor modifications to the printing
system as well as the installation of an encoder are necessary, only. The following two chapters provide a detailed de-
scription.

4.5.1

Modifications to the printing system

Step 1: Change of printing mode

If, in the printer settings, the mode of the printing system is set to intermittent, it has to be changed to continuous
printing mode. For this purpose, the software

a:control

can be used. The description of the procedure can be found in

the software manual.

Step 2: Position the carriage

Make sure the printing system is powered off. Then, remove the cassette and move the carriage to the desired position.

Step 3: Fix the carriage

Remove the two screws on the carriage as well as the next accessible screw on the linear track rail next to the carriage
(see left figure below). If the carriage position is close to the left end of the linear track rail, choose the comparable
screws on the right side of the carriage.
The Kit CM print contains beside the encoder one CM fixture, two M3 x 6 screws, one M3 x 16 screw and one washer.
Mount the CM fixture to fix the carriage. Use the M3 x 16 screw and the washer to fix the CM fixture to the linear track
rail and the two M3 x 6 screws to fix it to the carriage (see right figure below).
